Star Jelly

Star Jelly was found a lot on the hills of Scotland in 2009 but has been recorded throughout history. This was found near Pitkeithley Loch on the Ochils,  I like the more colorful explanations for it but it remains a bit of a mystery.  Here it is described by the hermit in Sir Walter Scots "The Talisman."

"Seek a fallen star," said the Hermit, "and thou shalt only light on some foul jelly, which, in shooting through the horizon, has assumed for a moment an appearance of splendour."
