The Royal Burgh of Linlithgow......

Twisting winding stair cases,  towers and intricate stone work combined with Alison Kinnairds stunning glass works make for an excellent day out with Sigrid Blekastad.  Some interesting developments have taken place in the way of finding the the wood for my door....cheers Mr. Chanel no.5!!!! I also found a book of Ingrid Calme's work.  It was interesting because we had been discussing Alison's use of street art in her work.  A very interesting find, a chance meeting with an artist though the medium of real life.....NOT the internet!!

Linlithgow Palace hall has the largest fire place I have ever seen, ideal fo cooking plebs in......but only two toilets!!  We talked about imagined accidents on the way there, then wondered about the reality of falling off one of the towers, this slow dissapated as we fanticised about the going ons and luxury endured by the inhabitants of the castle.

Spot the Cyclops!

Actually this was yesterday, but there's still a cyclops for those who'd care to see it!

Cast the Anchor......

So far I have 2 wax anchors with which to attach some bizzare fantasy of mine onto reality.  I made the clay first, then gel flexed it (urgh....disgusting stuff.) Ive made 2 just in case but of course its bound to work on the first attempt.(?)  As I made the pieces in quarters I had to make another wedge part (see below).  There will be characters holding onto a rope attached to it, they will be 2d and painted.  I'm still not sure if it'll have to be a glass rope!  A cunning escape from the world of fiction is planned otherwise the fear is they won't survive into the pages of history so it's likely to be a fairly elaborate affair.  You know these fantasy characters tend to be a little flamboyant.  Any way as for the wax, once its all sealed in an undestructable mould it will then be the melted away into a globular puddle at which point the true purpose  of the whole affair can be achieved....it will be cast in glass.  This will have to wait till after the weekend because I'm off to London.

Star Jelly

Star Jelly was found a lot on the hills of Scotland in 2009 but has been recorded throughout history. This was found near Pitkeithley Loch on the Ochils,  I like the more colorful explanations for it but it remains a bit of a mystery.  Here it is described by the hermit in Sir Walter Scots "The Talisman."

"Seek a fallen star," said the Hermit, "and thou shalt only light on some foul jelly, which, in shooting through the horizon, has assumed for a moment an appearance of splendour."
